University of Wolverhampton Careers in Health Experience Day Y13 students Tue, 01 Oct 2024A group of Y13 students attend the University of Wolverhampton Performance Hub (Walsall Campus). It consisted of a carousal of workshops to explore a range of career apprenticeships in Health. The event was co-hosted by employers from the health sector and curriculum areas from the university of Wolverhampton. Students were able to experience taster sessions that included Midwifery, Nursing, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy and Paramedic Science. The taster sessions were particularly engaging as these allowed students to engage in aspects of Health, such resuscitation, feet analysis and adaptions associated with recovering from a stroke. The experience day also included a visit to a career marketplace which included employers recruiting onto apprenticeships, such as Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS, West Midlands Ambulance. The marketplace allowed students to ask questions and to gain an increased awareness as to how to make an apprenticeship application. Students were also able to meet with students who have already successfully completed a degree apprenticeship. The trip was enjoyable and engaging. Students were very positive about their experience and there was an increased awareness and interest in Degree Apprenticeships in Health.
