Superb Results for Sandwell Academy Sixth Form Students

There is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved another excellent set of A Level examination results. Outstanding outcomes included 36% A*/A grades and 82% A*/C grades with 100% of the students achieving three qualifications or better.

The tougher A-Level and BTEC courses have proved challenging; however, Sandwell Academy students have consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the borough since it opened in 2006 and this year’s results demonstrate the hard work of students and staff at the Academy.

All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were Fabiha Ahmed, who achieved and A* in Mathematics, an A in Chemistry and an A in Biology, and will gain a place at the University of Birmingham studying Medicine.

Callum Taylor achieved A*’s in Mathematics and Further Mathematics and an A in Physics , he will be going on to study Mathematics at the University of Nottingham.

Abhijeet Singh achieved four Distinctions in Double Sport, ICT and Business, Abhijeet will go on to study Business, Computing and ICT at Aston University.

Jack Denton achieved an A* in Art and Design, a Distinction in ICT and Distinction* in BTEC Business. Jack plans to study Graphic Communication at Birmingham City University.

Louis Rushton achieved Triple Distinction in BTEC Sport and he will be going to study Physical Education at the University of Worcester.

Ian Williams, Head of the Academy, commented: “I am delighted at the outcomes achieved by our sixth form students and send my fullest congratulations to them all. I would like to thank the teachers, support staff and parents for their commitment in encouraging our talented students during their time with us. We look forward to supporting every student to a positive destination at university, college or in an apprenticeship, further training or employment. Superb Results for Sandwell Academy Sixth Form Students

There is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved another excellent set of A Level examination results. Outstanding outcomes included 26% A*/A grades and 75% A*/C grades with 92% of the students achieving at least a pass grade in every subject.

The new, tougher A Level and BTEC courses have proved challenging; however, Sandwell Academy students have consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the borough since it opened in 2006 and this year’s results demonstrate the hard work of students and staff at the Academy.

All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were James Nock who achieved A* grades in Physics and Mathematics and A grades in Further Mathematics and Computer Science.

Ghayoor Hussain achieved an A* in Mathematics and a further three A grades in Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics. He will be going on to a degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham and will be joined there by Simran Hayre, Kramer Chall and Navjit Singh who will all be studying Medicine.

Codee-Leigh Williams achieved an A* in Geography and A grades in Mathematics and Physics. She will be heading to the University of Leeds to study Geophysical Sciences.

Vinay Soni will be studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham having achieved two A grades in Mathematics and Chemistry and a B in Physics.

Billy Cartwright achieved a Triple Distinction in Sport and Exercise, and will be studying Sport Development and Coaching at the University of Worcester.

Balraj Purewal achieved Distinctions in both ICT and Business and will be studying Business and Management at Aston University.

Harmon Rai has secured a Degree Apprenticeship with BT and will be commencing his apprenticeship in September and Jawad Nazir has obtained a Degree Apprenticeship with BMW in Oxford in ICT.

There is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved another excellent set of A Level examination results. Outstanding outcomes included 25% A*/A grades and 85% A*/C grades with 100% of the students achieving at least a pass grade in every subject.

Sandwell Academy has consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the borough since it opened in 2006 and this year’s results continue to set the standard.

All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were Prizam Sandhu who achieved straight A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Business and ICT and will be going on to study Biochemistry with an Industrial Placement whilst at the University of Birmingham.

Joining Prizam at the University of Birmingham will be Mohammed Ali who achieved an A* in English Literature and A grades in Biology and Chemistry and will study Medicine. Rahul Rana achieved an A* in Biology and A grades in Chemistry and Physics and will also go on to study Medicine at University College London.

Taylor Williams scored an A* in Mathematics and achieved A grades in Chemistry, Physics and Design and Technology and will study Mathematics at the University of Birmingham.

Naomi Rowaiye achieved an A* in Applied Business, an A in Art and a B in ICT and will go to Birmingham City University to study Fashion, Business and Promotion. Other students achieving top grades in a range of subjects include Simran Sandhu who will go to study Dentistry, Paramvir Kahlon, Economics, Sandeep Dulay, Computing, Business and ICT and Sam Nock, Accounting and Finance.

Hamzah Hussain will be starting a higher apprenticeship with Digital 3rd after achieving three excellent B grades and Connor Riley has secured employment with West Midlands Fire Service as a fire fighter having undertaken a tough selection process and achieving excellent grades.

Sixth Form Record Breakers

There is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved their best ever set of A Level examination results, surpassing previous impressive records. An outstanding performance has resulted in a highest ever UCAS points score per student of 423 UCAS points which is equivalent to well over 4 grade Bs per student. This included an amazing 87 (14%) A* grades from across a range of academic and vocational subjects.

Sandwell Academy has consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the Borough since it opened in 2006 and this year's results continue to set new records.

All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were:

Suet Au who achieved straight A grades in English, Maths, History and Geography and will be going on to study a degree in Management at Warwick University.

Anisah Ali will be going on to study Medicine at the University of Birmingham after achieving an excellent set of results. Joining her at the University of Birmingham and studying Dentistry will be Har-Amrit Singh, who achieved an A* grade in Maths, an A in Chemistry, a B in Biology and a C in Physics. Head Girl Charlotte Skeen also achieved an impressive A* in History, an A in Biology and B grades in Maths and Chemistry.

Sanjana Dwivedi achieved an A* in Psychology and A grades in Maths, Physics and ICT and has secured a lucrative higher apprenticeship at the global accountancy firm KPMG with all her university tuition fees paid on a six year programme.

Maddison Smith will be starting a higher apprenticeship with Price Waterhouse Coopers after a gruelling selection process.

Rianna Glasgow was thrilled with her results which enabled her to achieve a much sought after apprenticeship with the BBC in London.

Sandwell Academy's specialisms of Sport and Business continue to lead the way with 36 A* grades being achieved in Business as well as 36 Distinction* in BTEC Sport. Notable performers included Herondeep Dhanda, Arjun Sandhu and Manvir Mann all scoring 550 UCAS points or more, achieving A*s in a range of academic and vocational courses. Other high achieving students included Sarah Garratt, Gurpreet Samra, Jasmin Sandhu and Nikki-Leigh Tomlinson.

Over 84% of grades across the Academy were at Grade C or better, with 58% at Grade B or better and 29% of the grades achieved were either A or A*, all records for the Academy.
