Year 7 Admissions 2027

If you have a child who will be 11 by 31 August 2027 you should register with your Local Authority and list Sandwell Academy as a preference. Online applications will open during the Summer of 2026, at this time you should make your application with your Local Authority and check with their Admissions Service for further details. Please ensure you use a working email address. The deadline for applications is usually 31 October 2026.

All children who list Sandwell Academy as a preference with their Local Authority will be invited to sit a Non Verbal Reasoning Test. This is not a pass or fail test. There is not a separate registration form for the NVR test. Children must sit this test to be considered for a place at Sandwell Academy, testing will take place Saturday 21 November and Sunday 22 November 2026

All invitations will be emailed at the beginning of November 2026, if you do not receive an invitation to a testing session by Wednesday 18 November 2026 you must contact the Academy. Due to the large number of applications the Academy is unable to check that each individual applicant has received their invitation to a testing session. It will be assumed that applicants who fail to attend their scheduled session no longer wish to be considered for admission to Sandwell Academy for Year 7 2027.

Sporting Aptitude Testing, which is an optional test, will be taking place on Saturday 3 October 2026.

Parents/Carers will be notified of the outcome of the Sporting Aptitude test on Monday 19 October 2026. While this will not guarantee an applicant a place it will allow parents/carers time to make an informed choice of school before the closing date for secondary school applications on 31 October 2026. The Sporting Aptitude Registration Form can be found below, the deadline to complete the form is 12.00pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026.

Information Evenings

For detailed information on Year 7 admission, we highly recommend that parents/carers attend one of our Information Evenings. These are due to be held on Thursday 17 September and Tuesday 6 October 2026.

During each event there will be a Headteacher’s Presentation in the Theatre 4.00pm, 5.30pm and 7.00pm.

If you would like to tour the Academy prior to the 4.00pm Headteachers Presentation, please arrive between 3.40pm and 3.55pm.

If you would like to tour the Academy prior to the 5.30pm Headteachers Presentation, please arrive between 4.15pm and 4.30pm.

If you would like to tour the Academy prior to the 7.00pm Headteachers Presentation, please arrive between 5.45pm and 6.00pm

Please note the 7.00pm presentation is normally our busiest presentation and have limited capacity in the theatre, so please arrive within good time.
