Embedding Formative Assessment (EFA) Ambassador School

We are proud to be an Embedding Formative Assessment (EFA) Ambassador School, demonstrating our commitment to evidence-informed teaching and learning. As an Ambassador School, we champion the use of formative assessment strategies that help teachers gather meaningful information about student understanding and respond effectively to learners' needs.

Through our partnership with the EFA programme, we support professional development, share effective classroom practice and collaborate with other schools to improve outcomes for all students. By embedding approaches such as high-quality questioning, responsive teaching, feedback and student self-regulation, we ensure that assessment is used to move learning forward every day.

Being an EFA Ambassador School reflects our belief that small, deliberate improvements in classroom practice can have a significant impact on student achievement, engagement and confidence.

Oracy is embedded across the curriculum, ensuring that every student has regular opportunities to develop their communication skills in meaningful and challenging contexts.

As part of the Voice 21 community, we collaborate with schools across the country to share best practice and continually strengthen our approach. This commitment helps our students become confident communicators, critical thinkers and active participants in their learning and in the wider world.

The Sandwell Wellbeing Chartermark

The Sandwell Wellbeing Chartermark is an evidence-based accreditation that recognises schools demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting the social, emotional and mental health of students, staff and the wider school community. The process involves a comprehensive audit of whole-school wellbeing provision, gathering feedback from students, staff and parents, and developing an action plan to address areas for improvement. Achieving the Chartermark demonstrates that wellbeing is embedded within our culture and practices - something which we continuously strive for at Sandwell Academy.
