Superb Results for Sandwell Academy Sixth Form StudentsThu, 19 Aug 2021Following another unusual and challenging year, there is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved an excellent set of A Level and BTEC results. Outstanding outcomes included 58% A*/ A grade equivalent and 95% A* / C grade equivalent with 100% of students achieving three qualifications or better. Sandwell Academy students have consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the borough since it opened in 2006 and this year’s results demonstrate the extraordinary resilience and hard work of students and staff at the Academy. All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were: Basma Mohamed achieved A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology and she will be going onto University of Birmingham to study Medicine Raman Kaur achieved A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and she will be going onto University of Birmingham to study Medicine Katie Bevan achieved A*’s in Chemistry, History, Psychology and Spanish. Katie plans to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Warwick University. Emmanuel Anih, Nihal Sahota and Tarun Samra all achieved Triple Distinction in BTEC Sport. They will be continuing their studies at Birmingham City University and the University of Derby studying Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy and Global Sport Management. Samran Narwain achieved D*D* in BTEC Double Business and D* in BTEC ICT, he will be going on to study Business and Management at Aston University. Ian Williams, Head of the Academy, commented: “I am delighted at the outcomes achieved by our sixth form students and send my fullest congratulations to them all. I would like to thank the teachers, support staff and parents for their commitment in encouraging our talented students during such a challenging time. We look forward to supporting every student to a positive destination at university, college or in an apprenticeship, further training or employment.
