Year 7 Sandwell Run

Wed, 23 Jun 2021

After much anticipation and several weeks delay due to poor weather, the traditional Sandwell Run, slightly adapted due to the pandemic, took place on Tuesday 15 June.

Each Year 7 students ran a time trial in their PE lessons, with the fastest six boys and fastest six girls overall qualifying for the big event!

With the weather set fair and the crowd expecting, the runners did not disappoint. The event started with the girls race, with all runners doing themselves proud. The race was a closely fought contest with a extremely tight finish between Aniellia Kerr and Chanelle Blissett, with Chanelle holding on to finish as champion in 13.70 seconds.

Next up was the boys race with two late replacements stepping in due to illness. All of the runners did exceptionally well in the heat and with the pressure of an excitable crowd, Justin Olaniyi Seven-Seven, stormed to victory in an extremely impressive time of 12.40 seconds.

All Year 7 students, from the crowd to the runners, can be proud of their conduct and we hope to be back to normal with all years competing in next year’s run!
