WBA Players visit the Academy

A group of Year 9 science students enjoyed a visit from two West Bromwich Albion first team players; Gareth Barry and Boaz Myhill. During the session students learnt about fitness, how it is measured and why fitness levels vary. They then conducted fitness tests to measure cardiovascular health by measuring heart rate and comparing it to that of an athlete before during and after exercise. Students then wrote conclusions before taking part in a lively question and answer session with the players.

Feedback from the students included:

"I really enjoyed Mondays session and found it inspirational meeting sporting superstars."

"I found the session fun and interesting, it was nice to have a different lesson to normal where we could see how science theory is used in sport."
