During May Half Term the Academy held a Sports Tour to Salou, Spain for 77 students from Years 8 and 9. The tour provided students that have represented the Academy in Netball, Football and Hockey, the opportunity to play against local Spanish opposition and other UK school teams.

This was the fourth Sports Tour that has run since the Academy opened and it was another fantastic success. As well as professional training sessions and fixtures, students got the opportunity to visit Camp Nou, the home of FC Barcelona and also enjoyed a day at the Aquopolis Waterpark.

Mr Mosedale, the Tour Leader, said; “This year’s tour was another fantastic opportunity for the students at Sandwell Academy. We run the Sports Tour every 2 years for students in Years 8 and 9; we see it as a fantastic way to celebrate all the students’ hard work and achievements in sports fixtures and Session 3’s.”

Head Mr Topper, who also joined the tour commented; “A big thank you to the staff for spending the half term break supporting the tour and very well done to all the students who were great ambassadors for the Academy on and off the pitch.”
