Superb Results for Sandwell Academy Sixth Form Students

There is once again much cause for celebration at Sandwell Academy after Sixth Form students achieved another excellent set of A Level examination results. Outstanding outcomes included 26% A*/A grades and 75% A*/C grades with 92% of the students achieving at least a pass grade in every subject.

The new, tougher A-Level and BTEC courses have proved challenging; however, Sandwell Academy students have consistently led the way in Sixth Form performance in the borough since it opened in 2006 and this year’s results demonstrate the hard work of students and staff at the Academy.

All students should be rightly proud of their achievements but amongst the stand out performances were James Nock who achieved A* grades in Physics and Mathematics and A grades in Further Mathematics and Computer Science.

Ghayoor Hussain achieved an A* in Mathematics and a further three A grades in Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics. He will be going on to a degree in Mathematics at the University of Birmingham and will be joined there by Simran Hayre, Kramer Chall and Navjit Singh who will all be studying Medicine.

Codee-Leigh Williams achieved an A* in Geography and A grades in Mathematics and Physics. She will be heading to the University of Leeds to study Geophysical Sciences.

Vinay Soni will be studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham having achieved two A grades in Mathematics and Chemistry and a B in Physics.

Billy Cartwright achieved a Triple Distinction in Sport and Exercise, and will be studying Sport Development and Coaching at the University of Worcester.

Balraj Purewal achieved Distinctions in both ICT and Business and will be studying Business and Management at Aston University.

Harmon Rai has secured a Degree Apprenticeship with BT and will be commencing his apprenticeship in September and Jawad Nazir has obtained a Degree Apprenticeship with BMW in Oxford in ICT.

Ian Williams, Headteacher at the Academy, commented: “I am delighted at the outcomes achieved by our Sixth Form students and send my fullest congratulations to them all. I would like to thank the teachers, support staff and parents for their commitment in encouraging our talented students during their time with us. We look forward to supporting every student to a positive destination at university, college or in an apprenticeship, further training or employment. I know that these young people will go on to achieve great things and make a positive contribution to society in the future. Well done and good luck to them all”
